Kerala away from the coast. Wayanad is coffee, cardamom and rainforest — the 6,000-year-old petroglyphs in the Edakkal caves, the heart-shaped lake halfway up Chembra Peak, elephants at Tholpetty at dawn, and the sheer 1,000 ft drop at Meenmutty falls. We stay in plantation homestays where dinner comes out of the family kitchen.
