In winter Kunzum closes and Spiti is reachable only from the Shimla side, on a road that is cleared one lane at a time. That is exactly the point. Frozen Pin river, snow-buried villages, monasteries with no visitors, and a genuine shot at spotting a snow leopard around Kibber. Homestays with bukharis, heated bedding, and captains who have run this route every winter. This is a serious cold-weather trip — read the fitness note before booking.
